Cardiff Metropolitan University Cardiff 10K

Kidney Wales invites you to take part in the 2021 virtual Cardiff Metropolitan University Cardiff 10K. Take part from wherever you are in the World and join us as we continue to support families and change lives in the kidney community in Wales on Sunday 5th September 2021.

Virtual runners will have an exclusive window from Sunday 29th August until Sunday 5th September 2021 (11.59pm) to complete their 10K. Complete the distance in one go or run the distance over multiple runs.

Run 10K (6.21 miles) and earn yourself some bling.

Race organisers Kidney Wales recently announced the funding of two research studies with the aim of discovering how effective the Covid-19 vaccines are for dialysis and transplant patients who are clinically vulnerable to the disease.  All proceeds from this virtual race will help bring this project to life for the kidney community across Wales and the UK, giving answers to concerns that clinically vulnerable patients are faced with as lockdown is beginning to ease and shielding lifted. You can read more about the project here.

We know running a virtual event takes just as much effort as a physical event, and we want to recognise that. That’s why we created the runclusive points system, which rewards you for every virtual event you finish.

Exchange your points for exclusive rewards, including runclusive-branded performance running clothing and leisurewear, medal display hangers, and free event entries.

You can even boost your points further by running in the event city or raising money for charity. Your reward points are automatically applied to your account every time you complete an event, and you can check your points total at any time in your runclusive dashboard.

Every runclusive virtual event comes with a free training plan for the distance at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Our training plans cover everything you need to know to make the most of your virtual event, including training tips, nutritious running recipes, kit guides and recovery advice.

Training plans can be downloaded in PDF format, with day-by-day training schedules that are print ready for convenience.

Charity is at the heart of everything we do at runclusive. We partner with charities to help them raise the vital funds they need to carry on their life-saving work, but we can’t do it without your help. Run a runclusive event for your favourite charity and make a real difference to those who need it.

You can either make a spot donation during your entry, or join their fundraising team and set up a fundraising page. Reach out to your friends, family and colleagues and ask for donations in return for your runclusive challenge. Remember, just because this is a virtual event, you still need to train and cover the distance, so this is no less of a challenge than an actual marathon.

We want to reward everyone who fundraises with runclusive, so you can receive bonus points when you reach fundraising targets. Find out more about fundraising with runclusive and how to get involved here.

A virtual event is a race with complete freedom. You can run wherever you want, and run at your own pace. Thousands of other runners will be completing the distance as well, so you’ll be running virtually shoulder to shoulder with a huge global running community.

As this is a virtual event, you’ll be completing it on your own in a location of your choosing. Therefore to earn your medal, you need to submit evidence that you have covered the distance.

Evidence can be anything that proves you have covered the full distance of your virtual event. For example screenshots from tracking apps or photos of your running watch. You can even go old school and show us your written training log.

To submit the evidence that you’ve completed your virtual event distance, log into your runclusive account and go to your dashboard. This is where you can manage your runclusive event entries and submit your evidence when you’ve finished.

Evidence should be uploaded in the form of a screenshot. Accepted formats are .jpg, .jpeg and .png.

For every runclusive event you finish, you’ll earn points. Every kilometre you cover in a runclusive event is worth one point.

runclusive points can be exchanged for rewards including exclusive merchandise and free event entries. So the more events you enter, the more you can run for free!

You can run wherever you like, as long as you can show evidence of the run. Remember, you’ll receive double points for running in the city itself. We count anything within 5 miles of the city centre.

There is no time limit, you can complete the distance at your own pace. As long as your evidence shows you have completed the distance then you will receive your medal.

All runclusive Virtual Events can be completed by walking instead of running if you’d prefer.

You can either submit evidence for multiple runs that equal your virtual event distance overall, or run the whole distance at once. If you finish the virtual event over more than one run, you will need to submit multiple pieces of evidence that show you have completed runs that add up to the full distance.

There is no age limit for taking part in runclusive virtual events. Any runners under the age of 16 should complete the distance under supervision of a parent or guardian.

Your medal will be dispatched once your evidence has been submitted and verified. Shipping times vary depending on your location. You’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know when your evidence has been approved.

We do not offer refunds for any of our events once purchased. Please ensure you are able to complete your virtual event when signing up for one, as we are unable to offer a refund if you change your mind or can’t complete the distance.

To sign up for a Virtual Event you will need a runclusive account. This is where you’ll track the events you’ve entered, and submit your evidence. Accounts are free to set up.

Yes, you can enter as many runclusive virtual events as you want. Remember, the more events you enter, the more points you’ll earn.
